NEW EOR ETC Pilot System to Prove An Environmentally Safer Method for Oil Extraction that also Drives More Revenue

Developing technology has provided opportunities for the Oil Industry to innovate age-old processes that have needed to be replaced.

EOR ETC has created a new process for challenging oil extraction that is safer for the environment and creates a reduced need for flaring methane and re-drilling or re-fracking depleted wells.

With the help of Liberty Resources and the University of North Dakota Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), EOR ETC has embarked upon a pilot program that will reimagine how tightly bound shale oil comes out of the ground.

“We’re pleased to be delivering the first pilot of our novel technology for Liberty Resources and are thankful to the EERC for making this possible,” says Co-Founder and President Brian Schwanitz. “We see a genuine need to increase recovery of oil from existing wells in a way that reduces emissions and reduces costs,” he went on to say.

The pilot will utilize EOR ETC’s novel technology in a single-well “huff ‘n’ puff” enhanced oil recovery (EOR) process, which is scheduled to begin September 2021. EOR ETC has developed a patent-pending EOR delivery system, which injects a combined stream of natural gas and water to repressurize the reservoir and release additional oil.

“This project builds on Liberty’s past work and experience in enhanced oil recovery by using EOR ETC’s innovative low-pressure co-injection technique as a game changer for reducing costs and complexity,” writes Gordon Pospisil, Liberty Resources LLC, Development Advisor.

Water is co-injected with the gas to provide additional weight to boost downhole pressures while keeping surface pressures in the low range for oil field production.

Founded in 2019, EOR ETC is headquartered in Houston, TX and is led by Dr. Stuart L. Scott, Brian Schwanitz and Adrian Williams . EOR ETC is a spin-off company from Petroleum ETC. If you’d like more information on EOR ETC, contact us here or use the button below to reach out and learn more.

The Bakken Production Optimization Program (BPOP) is working to improve Bakken system oil recovery and reduce its environmental footprint. The program has demonstrated increased well productivity and the economic output of North Dakota’s oil and gas resources, decreased environmental impacts of wellsite operations and reduced demand for infrastructure construction and maintenance. BPOP is led by the EERC and funded by program partners and the North Dakota Industrial Commission. https://undeerc.org/bakken/optimization/
